I’ve been recently hearing all this annoying nonsense about Apple’s new and improved programs made for their new operating systems and I feel like I have to say something about it. They released their new version of Logic Pro and there have been numerous complaints about how “it’s terrible” and “downgraded”. A friend of mine who is a music producer, uses Logic Pro 9 for all of his works. Even after the release of Logic Pro X, I noticed he hasn’t upgraded to it and when I asked him why, he discussed how they “simplified” everything and took out many things he was used to. He mentions how Apple wanted to reach a broader audience by changing the whole interface so that a beginner can immediately start producing works at a professional level. It’s the same story with Final Cut Pro X.
Now, personally, I have no argument here and I don’t know where I’m going with this. I just wanted to post something because Cameron just posted something. But what I would say is that, they should just keep the consumer and prosumer products separate. Instead of “dumbing down” the programs that were originally meant to be just for prosumers such as Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro, they should just make their consumer versions (GarageBand and iMovie) more advanced. Professionals who know what they are doing want to use programs meant for professionals. Not for beginners who just want to make a video about their recent vacation.
Anyways, I’m tired so I’ll leave it there for now.

Thanks for your blog, nice to read. Do not stop.
